The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Kofi Opoku Manu, has visited the KNUST Campus to acquaint himself with the current spate of problems as regards water and electricity supply.
The visit followed a meeting that had been held at the Regional Administration, earlier, to find solutions to the persistent interruption in water and electricity supply to the Kumasi Metropolis.
The Minister reiterated his concern about the situation on campus and promised to work within his powers to bring the situation under control. He urged the University to also strive to minimise the problem and to avoid a negative impact on the academic environment.
The Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor W.O. Ellis, Thanked the Minister for his concern for the institutional climate and environment. He assured the Minister that efforts were seriously underway to rectify the situation.
Reports indicate that the current problems with water and electricity supply are somewhat systemic and national in character. However stakeholders are working tirelessly to ensure regular and uninterrupted supply of water as well as electricity.
All are hereby entreated to bear with the situation.
